'Round these cold parts

Only in our apartment....would I be sitting on the couch with a snoozing pig and a little kitty to my side, entertaining herself with my computer charger.
and they are just the sweetest little animals.
so sweet....they even sleep together.
now you can't tell me that isn't cute...

The first of many snow days

these pictures were taken from my porch before we got even more snow :]

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving break, I think it was the 17th or something, it was 55 degrees in Boone, the next day it snowed, the next day I went to a 65 degree Milledgeville, and then that Saturday headed down to 80 degree Savannah where I spent a week in the most perfect weather.
I was very THANKFUL for that, because as soon as I made it back up the mountain....it snowed.
2 INCHES.

but unlike the usual craziness that ensues even a flurry in Georgia. Boone takes it, and takes it well. There is still traffic, classes, and work. Darnit.

BUT ITS THE FIRST SNOW THAT HAS STUCK!
bring it, Winter.

but I really wish I was in the presence of these ladies again right this second.

Home sweet home

I'm back in Savannah for a week, and I couldn't be more excited!
I already have so many happy things to dish about later, but for now I am going to eat good food and spend lots of time with wonderful people.
Have a wonderful turkey day and a relaxing week!
I shall be back sooooon.

There really is nothing better than the comfort of home.

Tonight I went to see the ASU Fall Dance Ensemble..

and I watched my best friend, Ali (who has been mentioned on here more than you would probably care to hear), dance for the first time since high school. She was in the first piece and danced me to tears.
Literally.
I cried like a proud mama.
She just loves it and its so beautiful and so all I know to do is cry.
So there I sat, in the front row, tears rolling down my face, intrigued by the emotion the human body can create not only in dancers, but felt by the audience.
So there is a nice little fact about me, I cry at beauty.
all. the. time.
and.
my best friend is one of the most talented, incredible people you will ever meet.

and don't you worry...there are pictures to come. my camera decided to die, so no pictures were taken tonight.
good thing I am going again tomorrow night, front and center, and now I know exactly where she is going to be..
such a proud mama bear.

Here's to a weekend of wintery skies, but beautiful weather

Here's, also, to the first relaxing weekend in a good long while.
and let me tell you, I soaked it up.

Here are a fews photos of what went on in the Boone-town.

Armani got a little grazing time at the Escape

the sweetest little cabin up the street from us!

Cleaned our cozy little mountain abode.

Chloe and I took the dogs on a little play date

Ali's wonderful little brother and dad came to visit!

My lovely little Ali Fruit at breakfast with her family

Of course, I couldn't help but take pictures of my delicious roasted potatoes, fried eggs, apple butter, and pumpkin pancakes at Melanie's.

Savannah Dance Festival

For the past year or so, my friend Emma's mom has been working so hard to plan a new festival in Savannah. Emma and her mom are both beautiful dancers (and her mom was also my Spanish teacher in highschool!) and their love for dance has inspired her to start the Savannah Dance Festival.

I am not sure all the details and dates of events, but they do have a few workshops in the spring and more stuff to come of course! So check out their website.

and if you DO happen to go take a peak at their website, don't forget to check out my photograph on the homepage and some more I took for Mrs. Pat this summer in the gallery. I was asked to take the photos of Nina and Emma to help show a connection between dance and other industries. We used planes to portray how dance could be used as advertisement in the aeronautical industry. and if that doesn't sound cool enough for you to look at, just know Emma and Nina are the most stunning models and talented dancers in the world...I may also be a tad biased, but just see for yourself.

Busy beeeee

This weekend is ending up to be just as busy as the rest, but for slightly different reasons.
Instead of having a gazillion guests and dog/pig sitting duties, it is full of homework, portrait drawing, football games, cold weather, and plenty of hot chocolate and movies (hopefully).

But since it is still before noon on Friday, I am going to continue sitting on my butt, drinking my coffee, and looking out my window at the bare trees and the blue wintery looking sky. and hoping it only looks wintery...but is still 80 degrees...

I shouldn't get my hopes up.

Monday Funday

After an extremely busy and hectic 3 weeks, this morning was EXACTLY what I needed. Mentally, physically, emotionally, the whole deal.
I went to bed at 9:30, woke up early and sat in bed for a good 15 minutes before I moved. I then checked my e-mail and made myself a yummy breakfast.
A couple week's ago Armani mischievously got into my backpack and ate my headphones, so I went to buy some more. (Side note: why is Wal-Mart required to lock their $14 headphones in a case, forcing customers to wait around for an employer-which its Wal-Mart, we all know that there are hundreds of employees but mysteriously we never see them-but anyways once you buy them, they are IMPOSSIBLE to get into without merciless hacking from a sharp object.)
but, I eventually dominated the headphone case and went on a beautiful trail run around the Greenway.
Now, here I am, sitting on my porch in 55 degree sunshine eating left over Pad See Ew with tofu. MMMMM
Definitely what I have been needing.

The happiest of hearts

I can not BEGIN to describe the bond between my friends and I.
No matter how far away, how long its been, and what life is looking like, we will always be so in love with each other.

My Birthday WEEKEND!

Where has the time gone? Tomorrow is my 21st birthday and it is going to be a busy,  busy weekend! Chloe and I have six people staying in our teeny apartment tonight and 4 tomorrow night. Our weekend will be filled with fall activities, a cookout (picnic style, hehe!), carving pumpkins, maybe some hiking, farmers market visits, delicious Boone food, drinking yummy beer, and hopefully nothing TOO crazy. I can't WAIT to have my lovely friends Hannah and Maria here either! They are traveling some ways to spend a day or two with my for my birthday and I couldn't be more happy :]

These were, oddly, the only picture taken on my birthday weekend last year. hmm. So just know that soon, you will be bombarded with pictures of my 21st extravaganza, because it WILL be documented.
Hope your weekend is full of leaves changing, great cookout weather, punk'n beer, and the smell of a grill burning!

Me and Moo

I just couldn't resist sharing this with the world.
Armani and I are officially best friends.

ignore the awkward angle, bad picture quality, and that nasty double chin I get for trying to put myself in the shot too.....

Weekend Highlights in the High Country

This weekend was filled with puppies, kitties, laughter, hiking, free food, new friends, cold weather (even snow!), winter hats and coats, beautiful views, antiquing and thrift store shopping, early evening runs, Lord of the Rings watching, changing leaves, craft time, and the feeling of holidays creepin' in...one of the best feelings ever!

Sweet kitties at the Watauga Humane Society
Goofy puppies getting some loving from Ali
a beautiful flower field Chelsie and I happened upon on the way to West Jefferson!
 Ashe County Cheese Shoppe
the most beautiful restored antique's store I have ever stepped foot in.
the lovely view from Mount Jefferson
 crunchy, fallen leaves!
While hiking with Chelsie we collected pretty leaves and acorns to make fall decorations for our apartments!

Ready to Party

Not fair.

Here's to the weekend!

My last weekend as an under-ager...to be exact.
It is suppose to get down to 30 degrees here because of this dang cold front! Woah! I don't know if I can handle 70 down to 30 in one day. It's gotta be gradual, come on.
But honestly, as much as I would like to think I'll just snuggle up all day and hibernate, I know there will be plenty of time for that come the actual winter where we are snowed in days at a time. So this weekend will be spent playing with puppies at the humane society (eee!), hiking and photographing the beautiful changing of the leaves, farmers market visits, and drinking pumpkin ale. And probably a bit of homework too...

Hope you have a wonderful, Autumn-y weekend as well!

(I am not sure the source of that picture...but I sure didn't take it, although I wish I had)

This crazy girl whom I love

So Sunday morning my best girl, Aline Louise, was evacuated from her apartment at 6:30 a.m. and by last night she had to be moved into a new house all because of a stinkin' sink hole! and let me tell you, it has been the craziest of months for this gal, but she has kept it together through every single thing thrown at her. She has kept it together so well, that I almost began to freak out for her. Of course, everything has worked out, and good, happy things have been found in the maybe not-so-good-at-first-glance events of this surprise filled September. So I decided to dedicate this post to Ali, her refreshing outlook on everything, and the start of October, a new month, a new season, a new house, and new happy things.

Some happy thoughts that will make Ali smile, for sure:
frequent chipmunk sightings/dancing
two free hotel rooms in one month!
Murder in the City
"Its goooood"
a flurry of falling yellow leaves
the goodness in people that you don't often see
the smell of mountain air after a rain
red barns :]
farmers market mornings
vertical incense burners
long car rides that make you nuts
finding encouragement and excitement in something you never thought would make you smile
frolicking with friends
meeting new wonderful people
encouraging words
having your best friend around all the time

Now seems like a better time than any

Hello! Its me, Hannah. The girl who is suppose to be writing on this blog. Here I am. Back for more.
I've decided now is a better time than any to blog again, because, once again, I have lots to say.
But first of all, I am starting with now and not filling you in on the past 3 months.
All you need to know about my life since my hiatus:
1. I moved to Boone, NC.
2. I live with my friend Chloe and her pet pig, Armani.
3. I changed my major to Health Promotion.
4. I am in love with where I am at in my life right now.

So my first post hiatus blog post is being written in my mountain abode, sharing a couch with a Vietnamese pot belly pig, listening to Van Morrison, and drinking some Chai.
Haven't you missed me? hah.

Today we found a lovely "Escape" up the street from our apartment and decided to have a little date with my roommate and her boyfriends pets.

Meet Bachi, Ben, and Bleu.

Moo Moo eating doing some landscaping, what he does best.
Attempted roommate picture (Armani doesn't like to claim us)

Hope your weekend was as great as ours!

Summer time is a funner time

Oh my gosh.
I am the worst blogger ever. It has been so loonnnngggg.
I have just had 0 time. Less time than I had finals week.

Here are a random list of events since I last blogged:
Friday, May 6: last final. left to go backpacking in NC with Leslie and her family!
May 9: Made it to Savannah, and found out I made a B in Precal! (Which means I am FO SHO going to App State next year!)
May 10: Started work at Six Pence Pub in Savannah, and today was my first day off. Woah.

and in between that, I have made a lot of great food at home, been sailing, kayaking, island exploring, beaching it, reading, attempting organization, working random shifts at Red Clover Boutique, running a lot, and sleeping.

Oh and I can't do BRAG this summer, long story....actually I just can't get off work, so I am doing a 10k in Roswell, GA. Yippee!

and here is a picture from my lovely first day off, which was spent at the beach

I PROMISE I'll be back sooner than later!
